From Vianca’s Foster Mom:
Vianca, a German Pointer/Hound Mix, lived with a family for the first 6 yrs of her life. She was surrendered to a high kill shelter when they moved and & they “couldn’t take her with them”. She lived with 2 children who were under the age of 5 yrs., and was very affectionate with them.
She is house trained and good with most other dogs, but will chase cats. Vianca has been a house dog, a family dog, her entire life. It takes her a little while to warm up to people she doesn’t know (a handful of treats sure helps!), but once she does warm up, she is the sweetest dog. She loves affection, attention, belly rubs. Rides nicely in a car and enjoys walking on leash, chewing bones and rawhide. She sits on command and takes treats gently. When she gets happily excited, she is one of the few dogs that can actually pull back her lips into a GRIN. (How cute is that?)
Vianca did NOT fare well in the shelter. She fell apart without her family & was a nervous wreck in the cold, chaotic environment. She was scheduled to be killed only days after her family left her there due to that fact.
When I saw her, I knew immediately she was a jewel to be saved. I was right.
