UPDATE!!! Lex Says Thanks!

Update 7/8/22 *LEX UPDATE* We cannot begin to tell you how happy and thankful we are that Lex has finally turned the corner and is flourishing! It was a long hard climb for this poor boy, but he continues to show us his tenacity, and is making bounds and leaps every day!

Lex’s strong jawline and chiseled features make him quite a hit with the ladies. On the way to see the breathtaking view of the Long Island Sound, we have to stay clear of the adoring fans for a bit until he’s well enough to sign autographs.

In other news, Lex has discovered kosher chicken. He prefers… the entire chicken. (sans bones of course) with a little bit of sweet potato and broccoli thrown in. His beautiful taupe coat is getting shinier by the day, and a little more strength, after each of his meals, is getting into his big skinny body.

Lex had his first training session with Fred Golik of Sound Hound, complete with tail thumping, lots of wags and a couple of laps around his shady back yard. Breathing is getting better, and he can’t wait to play!!

Lex wants to say a thankful WOOF for ALL your generous support because without you being with us, this absolutely could not have been possible!

LEX was lucky enough to leave the shelter, but unfortunately he has life-threatening pneumonia and had to be admitted to Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island. Even if he is scared to be in the hospital, he is being such a trooper with two IV's in him, and allowing the techs to poke and prod him and give him coupage. Lex' medical bills are estimated to be $5131-$8894! ANY donation is SO much appreciated for this very unexpected illness!
Thanks so much!

Update 7/8/22 Lex is being weaned off oxygen very slowly and is making some good progress. His new chest X-rays showed some pneumonia still in the cranial lung, but his breathing is better with lowered oxygen. We remain hopeful that Lex will be able to leave the hospital soon. We thank you for your continued support and love for this boy. Lex is such a trooper and we can’t wait to see him out of the hospital and in his loving foster home❤️‍🩹His estimate has grown to $12000

Update 7/6/22 Lex is showing some signs of improvement! 👏🏽 His oxygen is now at 95%. They would like it to be at 100% before he leaves the oxygen tank. He still has not eaten anything, however a very special someone has DoorDashed some sirloin and sweet potatoes to him which the staff has promised to hand feed him 😊 Stay tuned for more (hopefully) good news on Lex! 🤞🏽

Update 7/5/22-Lex is holding his own, but still is not out of the woods. He’s not able to breathe normally outside of the oxygen tank. Updated x-rays show that, as is usually the case, the pneumonia gets worse before it gets better. But his excellent team at Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island (VMCLI) is hopeful that the wide spectrum anti-biotics and nebulization will give him the support he needs to heal. Lex is strong and determined, so let’s envision him getting better and going home! Thank you so very much for your continued support and for caring so much about Lex! ♥️
