“My name is Ruby and I’m a spunky, lovable Feist mix that was rescued from the nycacc in October. They say you’re never supposed to ask a lady her age or weight, but my foster daddies say for the purpose of my adoption, it’s a must. I’m 7 months old at 25 pounds (as of mid-October), but that’s enough about that.
My foster family says I look like their other dog, Caico, who is a Potcake (dogs that are native to island nations where the locals feed the cake at the end of the pot to the stray dogs)! I’m unsure of the mix that I am, but it doesn’t matter, because I’m SO cute!
When I first enter into a new home, I’m very curious of my surroundings, but also a little intimated. I think it’s because I was given up by my original owner so I need to take time to settle into my new home. Although I’m shy at first with the new surroundings, I’m certainly not shy to meet new people and new dogs! I love to cuddle, kiss, and receive lots of attention. Once I get comfortable, you won’t be able to stop me from following you around the house and getting excited every time I see you!
I think my original owner named me Ruby because what can I say, I’m a gem. I’m house-trained, crate trained, and know my commands including sit, lay down, stay, and come. If I’m excited, staying still for me may be a bit hard, but that’s because I am filled with so much love. Although I don’t fight to go on my leash, I am a bit hesitant going outside. That’s because loud noises are a little scary to me, but it’s great for my owners because I do my business the second I step out and like to head back home! However, I enjoy longer walks now because it usually means I’m going to the dog park with my older stepbrother, Caico. I love to play with him and other dogs at the park. Actually, we play nonstop in the house and are great when it comes to sharing our toys.
I am a very vocal, sassy young pup who can handle a car ride with the best of them but I don’t like trucks or buses. I didn’t bark at first but now that I’m feeling a little more comfortable – which only took a few days – I only speak up when I hear people entering my building or when my owners come home.
What can I say – I’m a triple threat! Looks, brains, and personality!
Honestly, I’m perfect and everything anyone ever wants in a pup – I’m cute, spayed, up to date on shots, healthy, loving, energetic, good with dogs, cats, kids, and did I mention that I’m really cute? That’s it from the Ruby Cube (as my foster daddies call me). I hope to meet you soon and find my forever home!”
