Happy is great at making new human friends!
urgent home needed for happy
Last week, we found out that Happy has had his whole world shattered...again.
"Oh hi, It's me Happy 234206, does anyone remember me? AmsterDog rescued me in Oct 2025, and I finally lived up to my name when my dad adopted me. But 2 months ago, dad never came home. I've been all alone in our apartment since then with nothing but silence and memories, as his scent fades a little more each day...
My heart is used to being broken though. When I was just a puppy, I was left behind at the big, scary shelter by the people I thought would always be there for me but they didn’t care when I became at risk for euthanasia. Thankfully, my dad found me in time and with him, I got to learn, grow, and become the good boy I am. I’m trying my very best to make him proud and keep moving forward. Maybe life didn’t give me an easy start, but I think I was named Happy for a reason. I’m ready to find my person and bring a whole lot of happiness into their life, too.
Some nice people come by to make sure I am fed, watered, and walked. I am always so glad to see them: they comment on how loving I am, but it isn’t like living in a home anymore. The loneliness is driving me crazy - I'm only 17 months old, such a tender age to be so alone all the time. And I really miss my dad. The rescue knows me as Happy, but he called me Arthur. I'm great at making new human friends, but not so much at making dog friends. I love toys and snuggles, too. I need a place to crash that has adults only and no other dogs. The good news? I don't take up much space, I'm only a little guy at 36 lbs.
Can you help me out? If I can't crash with you, please share me and maybe I'll get one more chance to truly be Happy..."
If you can open your heart & home to dear Happy (Arthur), please contact AmsterDog Rescue by call/text at (917) 689-8414 or by email at info@amsterdog.org.

Why Adopt an Amsterdog?
AmsterDog is a foster-based rescue and does not have its own facility. We rely on people like you to open their hearts & homes to pets in need. Our fosters are spread throughout the northeast, and we partner with veterinary services and professional trainers all over.
AmsterDog has animals available for adoption that were previously rescued from urgent situations and have since resided in a foster home or boarding. This means that their behaviors and personalities are well known. Their caretakers can tell you their likes, dislikes, favorite treats, special scratch spots, and more!
AmsterDog is here to help! Whether you’re only beginning your browsing for a new best friend or just not quite sure which one is for you, talk to us. Text us, call us, write us an e-mail, or message us on social media: we will match you with the best fit for you. AmsterDog is more than happy to adopt our dogs out, but we do offer a foster-to-adopt option to make sure that both you and your new pet are truly a great fit, with many memories of love and companionship awaiting you both!
AmsterDog helps animals in many locations throughout the northeast - don’t be deterred if a dog isn’t being fostered locally. We provide transportation to approved adopters within a reasonable distance.

rescued xylos joins family of fellow Acc pulls
Late Feb 2026, Xylos 244645 found himself alone and out of time, awaiting euthanasia in an over crowded city shelter. We were able to pull Xylos in time thanks to an amazing previous adopter of ours. Now, Xylos loves his new life, his new mom, and his new siblings, Gigi 138023 (2022) and Sukhia Snow 163061 (2023). Being a New Hope Partner with the Animal Care Centers of New York Ciy for so many years allows us to share an amazing rescue story such as this, but we couldn’t do it without our incredible fosters and adopters!
