the How behind the Help:
foster
Foster homes are always needed. More often than not, when we place an animal in a foster home, that foster is literally saving their life or keeping that animal out of the overcrowded shelter system - which spares the life of an animal at risk of euthanasia. Apply to foster
adopt
We can’t continue to rescue if we don’t get our foster animals into forever homes. Although we love a “foster fail”, spaces in experienced foster homes are precious. Even when you adopt a previously rescued shelter pet, you are saving the life of a shelter pet still waiting to be rescued. And dogs & cats that have been fostered are well-known to their caretakers - they can fill you in on their behaviors, favorite treats, and secret scratch spots! We speak from experience when we say: it is not us who rescues them, but it is they who rescue us! Apply to adopt
volunteer
Although we are foster-based and do not have a facility, there are many ways in which you can help - and the more help we have, the more animals we can save! Reach out at info@amsterdog.org if you have interest in assisting us with social media, screenings, networking, promoting adoptable dogs, and more.
donate
With ~50 dogs in our care at any given time, the veterinary bills and other expenditures are constant. Most of the dogs we take need medical attention, behavioral training, transportation, supplies, medications, etc. But once an AmsterDog, they get 100% of all donations made and we take responsibility for them if anything were to happen in the future. YOU can make all the difference in the life of a pet in need!
